HKU Special Principal’s Nomination Scheme for Young Scientist Scheme (YSS) in 6901 BSc

Providing ample learning and early research opportunities to talented science students.

Students who are not as strong in non-science subjects and with DSE results marginally short of the YSS requirements will have a chance to join YSS upon your nomination!

Target Nominees

• 5* or above in at least 1 Science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, Integrated Science, Core Mathematics, M1, or M2)
• Total score of 32 or above in their best 5 HKDSE subjects in 2022 HKDSE

Important Date

Mar 3, 2022 : Internal (in-school) deadline for application

Mar 31, 2022 : Official deadline of the nomination of a maximum of 5 students

Late April, 2022 : Invitation to be sent to nominees to attend interview

May/June, 2022 : Attendance in HKU SPN for YSS interview

End of June, 2022 : Release of conditional offer for admission to YSS to successful nominees

Early July, 2022 : Acceptance of the conditional offer for YSS

September, 2022 : Briefing session for newly admitted YSS students
