WYNG Philomathia Student Essay Contest 2017/18 (Theme: Mobility)

The WYNG Philomathia Student Essay Contest aims to help local fourth and fifth-form students develop a greater awareness towards social issues by encouraging them to submit short essays based on the themed works of WMA award winners and finalists. These works serve as a springboard for young writers to develop a greater awareness towards social issues tied to the cycle’s given theme.

 

* How to Enter

This contest is open to all S4 to S5 students from local secondary schools. Students are strongly encouraged to explore different formats, approaches and angles in their take on the theme—entries will be judged on their overall merit, including originality, creativity, relevance and use of language.

a. Pick a photo, or a series of photos, by either the winner or the finalists of the WMA Masters 2016 (short link: https://goo.gl/LwmH7C ) and write an essay in no more than 1,000 words on the theme, “Mobility”.

b. Submit your essay in .docx/.doc format to wyngphilomathiaessay@gmail.com and include all of the following details:

i. The title (if applicable) of every photo chosen and the name of the series from which they are taken;

ii. The name of the photographer;

iii. Link(s) to the selected photo(s);

iv. Your full name (write your surname in uppercase, followed by your given name, e.g. CHAN Tai-man, or WONG Christine);

v. The name of your school;

vi. Your class; vii. Your email address;

viii. Your contact number.

 

The deadline for submission is 11:59pm (Hong Kong time) on 18 March 2018.
