Applications for 2018 summer programmes opens on February 1, 2018.

All applications should be completed online via the HKU Summer Institute online application system.

Rolling Admission

Your application will be reviewed as soon as your application materials are received*. The earlier you apply, the greater your chance for securing a place in the summer programme.

*Subject to the decision of different Offering units / Faculties / Departments.

You should complete the application online before the application deadline, please click here for specific requirements and application deadline of individual programmes.

An application should include:

Personal Identification
  • Photograph of the applicant
    i) Image tape: PDF/ jpg
    ii) File size: 600Kbytes or below
    iii) Acceptable dimension:
    – Captured by scanner (600dpi) – Photograph size: 40 mm(W) x 50 mm(H)
    – Captured by digital camera – Image size: 1200 px(W) x 1600 px(H)
  • Colour copy of passport (valid for at least 6 months)
  • Colour copy of HKID Card (for local students)
  • Colour copy of the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents, in Chinese: 港澳居民來往內地通行証或回鄉咭 (if applicable) for multi-location programme travelling to China
Education and Qualification
  • Photocopies of certificates and academic transcripts (if these are not in English, they must be accompanied by a translation in English)
  • The documents should indicate:-
    – Full name of school
    – Full name of student
    – Grading system/ scale (for example, 7 = Excellent, 6 = Very Good, 5 = Good)
  • Photocopy of proof of English proficiency if your first language or teaching medium in home institution is not English
Additional Supporting Documents
  • Additional documents as required by individual programme(s) e.g. recommendation letter from school principal, personal statement, short essay, additional form
  • Please do not send any original documents to the University by post. The University is not responsible for any documents lost in the process
  • Please indicate the types of supporting documents and your full name when uploading the files to our online application system. (e.g. Passport_LEE Tai Man Harry)
  • HKU Summer Institute reserves the right to cancel a course should there be insufficient enrolment or any unforeseen circumstances. Programme dates, content and fee are subject to change without prior notice, students should pay attention to the programme website and email notification for new programme updates.
