Overview
In view of the latest development in the COVID-19 pandemic, the CUHK Summer Institute (SI) 2020 will become a credit-bearing online programme. It continues to bring enthusiastic learners from secondary schools to explore different academic fields and prepare future study at CUHK. The credit-bearing online courses will be conducted during 3 – 14 August 2020.
By joining the SI, you can
- Explore different subject areas through one to two courses taught by renowned CUHK faculty members
- Earn a maximum of two credits which may count towards undergraduate studies at CUHK in the future (with the exception of some programmes)
- Engage in academic, cultural and social exchange with students of diverse backgrounds
Programme
In 2020, the CUHK Summer Institute (SI) will be transformed to a credit-bearing online programme. The online courses will be conducted during 3 – 14 August 2020.

1. Read the programme information and application procedures below in details
2. Identify the type of application and the course(s) you are interested in, one in the morning and/or another one in the afternoon

3. Create an account in the online application system
4. Fill in the required information and upload supporting documents

5. Submit online application. Successful applicant will receive an auto-confirmation email that contains your application number (SI20xxxx)
6. Receive application result through email between June and July
7. Accept offer online and settle the total fees payable to CUHK through online payment by Visa or MasterCard within four calendar days
8. Receive “Confirmation of Admission” together with a welcome pack within ten working days after your payment is confirmed
9. Return the signed “Confirmation of Admission” and required documents according to the specified deadlines
Eligibility
Students who are applying to universities in the year 2021 are welcome to apply, i.e. Secondary 5 students of the Hong Kong system (HKDSE).
